All the jump rings at Spiderchain are made with American Wire Gauge (AWG) wire sizes – also known as the Brown & Sharpe gauge system. AWG is the gauge system used for precious metals, and we follow it even for our copper and brass rings. You’ll see rings divided into “inch sizes” and “millimeter sizes.” This refers to the inner diameters of the jump rings that we make. You can get the same tiny-to-huge range of ring sizes in either measurement system, it’s really just a question of which system makes more sense to you. (I personally prefer inches, but I know I’m in the minority! *grin*)
The 20 gauge rings listed here are made with wire that is 0.813mm (or 0.0320″) thick.
Standard Sizes
These are your typical chainmaille ring sizes, ranging from “just big enough for a 2-in-1 chain” through “a little bigger than the big rings of Dragonscale.”
Millimeters: inner diameters from 1.75mm through 5.5mm.
Inches: inner diameters from 5/64″ through 14/64″ (7/32″).
