Bracelets Vol. 1
I cover seven weaves in this DVD
(4-in-1, birdcage, box, 6-in-1, full persian, japanese, half persian)
and I teach each in the context of a bracelet project.
I've been teaching for
over ten years, and I've learned as much about teaching from my students as they've
learned about chainmail from me. I crammed the DVD full of the tricks that have
helped my students understand which ring goes where. And, unlike my in-person students,
you'll be able to freeze-frame the complex steps and replay them as many times as you want.
You can also buy kits to make the weaves that I teach in the DVD.

Bracelets Vol. 2
The second DVD covers dragonscale, parallel, HP 5-in-1 sheet, jens pind, snake,
turkish round, and oval. Again, I'm teaching all the weaves in the context of bracelet
projects, showing you how to end them and add clasps.
These are more advanced weaves than those on Volume 1. If you aren't already an experienced
chainmailler, I strongly encourage that you buy Volume 1 as well. Even if you are
an experienced chainmailler, you'll probably find some helpful tips on Volume 1.

Knotted Wire Jewelry - Vol. 1 by Loren Damewood
Loren is a fantastic teacher and he teamed up with the same guy who filmed and edited my DVDs
to make this two-disc instructional video. I haven't had a chance to review it yet (they just
arrived) but with Loren's teaching talent and Jason's filming talent I have high expectations!

Next DVD
Yes, I am working on another DVD. It was supposed to be released already, but I
wasn't happy with how the preliminary edit came out so we're going to re-film the
whole thing. I'll post updates here as soon as there are any updates to post.
The next DVD will cover japanese weave in detail. Angles, curves, plus some interesting
variations.
Update - October 15, 2007:
I'm procrastinating badly on this project. Still haven't re-filmed, and probably
won't do so until sometime in the spring. I know my filming muse will come back eventually, but for now
she's hiding out and I'm working on other projects.
Update - April 15, 2008:
Not a DVD. A book!
The more I worked on the plan for this DVD, the more I found myself wanting still shots
on the screen to demonstrate ring relationships. At a certain point I realized that
I wasn't actually planning a DVD, I was planning a book. So I'm going to tackle my
writing phobia (with some help from a friend) and present this material the way it
wants to be taught.
Update - March 24, 2009:
I am still working on the book. It is slo-oo-ow going, but it does go. I've figured out the technical
issues now (what camera, what printer, what lighting, what layout software) and I'm chipping
away at the actual content.
I'm considering doing pre-prints of some projects and selling them with
kits. These would be projects that would eventually be part of the book, but students could see
them before the whole book was ready.
Let me know if you think this is a good (or bad!) idea.

Thank you for such a fantastic DVD. I had tried different weaves through
books, websites, and CD, but was never able to get it and had given up
ever learning. As a last effort, I thought I would give your
instructional DVD a try.
I was truly amazed! I was able to do all the weaves on the DVD and I am
so pleased with my creations. I am anxiously awaiting the release of your next DVD.

I received your DVD yesterday in the mail and immediately started to watch it.
It is by far one of the best instructional DVD's I've seen, and I'm into many
different types of jewelry making from glass fusing to metal clay and basic bead
stringing. I wish your DVD had been available a year ago when I started to
teach myself chainmaille. Thank you for taking the time to make this DVD.

I specifically
bought it to see if you had an easier way to teach the HP 4-in-1. Thank you
so much for having a better way! I've done it once before but it took me an
entire day to try to get started and a lot of foul language. After that I
was afraid to ever try it again. Your way of teaching that weave is so much
easier.

You are a superb teacher!! I haven't watched all of it (I have 3 other "grandma"
projects to complete before I can go back to weaving) but your DVD is so very
good and your quiet, reassuring manner makes me believe I'll be an expert in no time!!

Just had to say how much I enjoyed your DVD. It was a pleasure to watch
and it's been a real godsend for the couple of weaves I was having real trouble with.
I think you are a very good teacher, and I've certainly learned some
better ways of finishing the ends of my chains.

I received the DVD and just wanted to say that it's so good!!
I've started the Japanese bracelet and also worked out the
Half Persian weave (after staying up too late) after several
goofs! You have a lovely, calm voice which really helps
my overall effort! Thanks again.
